So…what are real touch flowers?
Which flowers are right for your celebration? A common misconception we hear is that real touch flowers are cheaper than fresh flowers, but with comparable quality, price isn’t the reason we love real touch!
Let's break it down:
Traditional Silk Flowers
Pros:
- Usually the cheapest option
- Will last longer than fresh flowers
- More access to exclusive styles of flowers (like Lily of the Valley which cost $$$$)
- No seasonality restrictions
- Hypoallergenic
- More versatility in designs
Cons:
- You can see the pattern of the fabric in silk flowers, so not as realistic
- Silk petals fray at the edges easily, showing loose threads in close-up photos
- Colors fade and yellow over time so they have to be replaced
- Feel very thin and fake to the touch
- Usually come in unnatural shades, making them look fake

Fresh Flowers
Pros:
- Natural scent that’s appealing to some
- Better for more woodsy designs or unconventional elements
- Better for flower pressing
Cons:
- Usually the most expensive option
- Only last a few days
- Require watering
- Many flowers are dangerous to children or pets if eaten
- Pollen can cause allergic reactions
- Very fragile and will fall apart if crushed
- Damaging to the environment (international transport, deforestation, pesticides, refrigeration)
- Some flowers cannot withstand harsh weather conditions (especially heat and wind)

Pros:
- Will not wilt in hot weather and wind will not blow petals off
- No seasonality restrictions: any flowers any time of year
- Hypoallergenic: No worries about pollen
- Non-toxic: Perfectly safe for children and pets
- More access to exclusive styles of flowers (Lily of the Valley costs the same as any other flower)
- More versatility in design structures (since no water is required)
- No silk texture in petals or fraying edges
- Designed to be kept for a lifetime
- Eco-friendly: no pesticides, refrigeration, deforestation required and can be kept for a lifetime instead of being constantly replaced over and over
- Plush, thick petals that feel soft and fresh to the touch, nearly indistinguishable from fresh in photos and in person
- Extremely durable: children can crush them, pets can sleep on them, you can run over them with your car!
Cons:
- More expensive than silk flowers, similar in price to fresh florals (except our rentals!)
- No natural scent (but you can easily add one with essential oils if you wish)
- There are varying levels of quality among suppliers (but we only use the best and can teach you how to find the best too!)
